RealAudio Player
The software for playing the audio excerpts found ahead is RealAudio Player, or RealOne, as its most recent version is called. Previous versions of Real Player from the G2 version on will work as well.

Accessing Using Your UCD LoginID
- You will be required to enter your UC Davis LoginID and kerberos password. Your loginID is not necessarily the same as your email, but the password almost certainly is. For help with your computer account at UCD, go here.
- When you click on "enter the password-protected listening examples website" above, you will leave this page, and be taken to a central site, which first explains that you will need to enter your information. At the bottom of that page, also click CONTINUE (As a short cut for future visits, you may bookmark that page). A small window will pop up, in which you enter your LoginID and password.
- Following that page, you will see a short list of web folders.
- Navigate to the folder that corresponds to your course.
- Next, choose the appropriate week.
- Finally, you will see a list of tracks. No other information will be available, so you must use your syllabus to choose the track that corresponds to the music you wish to hear.
FOR REALONE USERS:
The first time you choose a track, RealONE may ask again for your LoginID and password. Realone will display the same page as before.
If your music does not start, be sure to maximize the view of RealONE; you may need to drag the corners of its various components in order to expose the web page.
Clicking continue, you will, for the second time, see a pop-up window, and be required to enter your LoginID and password. Leave RealONE open after listening, and any more tracks you request will not need the password entry.

Have you connected before? If you were able in the past to connect, it may be that the server is at full capacity. Try to connect at a later time, or visit the music library to listen in person.
Re-install RealPlayer: If you've recent upgraded your operating system, installed Quicktime, Windows Media Player, or other media playing software after installing RealPlayer, RealPlayer may no longer work correctly. Try reinstalling RealPlayer.
Check your web browser: Make sure you have a browser with SSL capability. Basically, the Internet Explorer series from 5.5+, the Netscape browsers from 6+, and Mozilla all have this capability.
Unable to connect with DSL or other 3rd-party ISP: If you connect to the course listening materials website using an Internet service provider other than campus dial-up, you may not be able to connect due to an incompatibility between your ISP and our server. Try our SSL link above. The new VPN access system should solve these problems. Visit this site at the UCD library for off campus access information and instructions in solving access problems.
